A Pleasant Surprise

Ever since I was little, I have always wanted to bake a birthday cake for my mother’s birthday. This year, I attempted to accomplish just that. The morning of her birthday, I hurried into the kitchen, placed the ingredients I had secretly obtained days ago, and started to put the cake together, carefully following a recipe. When I was done, the cake looked far from beautiful, but the taste was wonderful. When my mother returned from work that afternoon, I presented my cake to her, and she gasped in surprise. At that instant, I knew that I had produced the perfect birthday present. I felt genuinely happy, and I was extremely glad that I brightened up my mother’s day too!
